Mělník is associated with a number of monikers, the most famous is "The Town of Wine". This is a name that certainly holds true given that wine and grapevines have long been an important feature of the life of the town. Grapevines have flourished in sunny locations around the city since time immemorial and its cultivation is connected to the beginnings of Christianity.
